Personal or Business account — what's the difference and which should I pick?
The main difference is simple: Personal accounts are for individual everyday use. Business accounts (Freelancer, Sole Trader, Company) are for professional income and payments. Here's how to decide.
Pick a Personal account if:
→ You want a European IBAN for receiving transfers, sending money, or spending with a Visa card → You're not earning income that needs invoicing or business-level documentation → You don't have clients who pay you for services
Pick a Freelancer account if:
→ You work independently — as a designer, developer, consultant, writer, photographer, or similar → You need to invoice clients without registering a company → You want Juuli to handle VAT, tax compliance, and invoice legality on your behalf → You work across borders and receive payments in multiple currencies
The Freelancer account is Juuli's most popular choice for independent professionals. No company registration is ever required.
Pick a Sole Trader account if:
→ You already have a registered individual business (e.g. Estonian OÜ, UK sole trader, Italian ditta individuale) → You need a business IBAN registered in your company's name → You need to separate your business and personal finances formally
Pick a Company account if:
→ You operate an incorporated business (LTD, GmbH, SARL, or similar) → You need multiple cards for team members → You need a business IBAN in your company's legal name
