How does Juuli's identity verification (KYC) work?
KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It's a standard identity check required by EU regulation for all payment accounts. Here's exactly how it works on Juuli — and why it matters.
Why does Juuli require KYC?
As a regulated payment platform, Juuli is legally required to verify the identity of every account holder. This is not optional — it applies to all EMIs and payment institutions operating under EU law. KYC is how we comply with anti-money laundering (AML) rules and protect the integrity of the platform.
What does KYC involve?
1. Identity document check
You upload a photo or scan of a valid government-issued ID. Our system checks that the document is genuine, valid, and matches the information you provided during sign-up.
2. Selfie / liveness check
You take a short video or photo of yourself. This confirms that you are the person named on the document — and that you're present in real time. Both steps are fully digital and typically take 2–5 minutes.
What happens to my data?
Your identity documents and selfie are processed by our secure verification system in compliance with GDPR. Documents are used solely for identity verification and are not shared with third parties beyond what is legally required.
What happens after I pass KYC?
Your IBAN and virtual Visa card are activated immediately. For Business accounts, KYB (company verification) is the next step.
