Virtual or physical Visa card — which should your business use?
⏳ From 1 August 2026 — Juuli cards can be topped up only from your Juuli account balance; topping up a card directly from an external bank account will no longer be available.
Both card types are funded the same way — you top up each card from your Juuli account or an external bank account — and both work everywhere Visa is accepted. The right choice comes down to how your business spends. Most businesses use a mix: virtual cards for online and recurring costs, and a physical card for in-person purchases.
Virtual cards — instant and online-first
A virtual card is created instantly in-app and is ready to use the moment it is issued — no waiting, no shipping. It is ideal for:
- Online subscriptions and SaaS tools (each tool can have its own card)
- Advertising spend and supplier payments
- Setting clear spending boundaries per project, team member or vendor
Because virtual cards are quick to create and freeze, they are a clean way to keep recurring costs separate and easy to track. You can freeze or unfreeze any card from the app at any time.
Physical cards — for in-person spending
A physical card is shipped to your business address and is best when you need to pay in person — for example, travel, hospitality or buying equipment at a store. A physical card arrives inactive for security and is activated in-app once it reaches you.

What your plan includes
Each plan comes with a set number of cards, so the choice may also depend on what is already included:
- Freemium: 1 virtual card included; physical cards are not available
- Pro: 5 virtual + 1 physical card included
- Max: 15 virtual + 3 physical cards included
Included cards ship free; extra cards carry a one-time card fee plus shipping for physical cards. Card costs are one-time only — there is no monthly or renewal charge. For full pricing, see below.

Our recommendation
If your spending is mostly online, start with virtual cards — they are instant and free to manage. Add a physical card when you need to pay in person. You can always create more cards later as your needs grow, within your plan's limits.
