How to track and categorise business expenses on Juuli

Every payment made with your Juuli business cards is recorded automatically, so keeping your books tidy doesn't have to mean manual data entry. This guide explains where to find your card spending and how to filter, categorise and export it for your records.

Where your expenses are recorded

Each time you pay with a virtual or physical Juuli card, the transaction appears in your card activity in the app. Every entry includes the merchant name, the amount, the date and the current status (for example completed, pending, declined or refunded), so you always have a clear picture of where your money is going.

How categories work

Juuli automatically assigns a spending category to most card payments based on the type of merchant. Common categories include:

  • Transport
  • Groceries
  • Restaurant
  • Services
  • Other (used when a merchant doesn't match a specific category)

Because categorisation happens for you, you can see at a glance how your business spending breaks down without tagging each payment by hand.

Filtering your transactions

To focus on the spending that matters for a given report or period, open your card transactions in the app and use the available filters:

  1. By date range — for example today, the last 7 or 30 days, this month, last month, or all time.
  2. By card — view spending on a single card or across all of them, which is handy if you assign different cards to different projects or expense types.
  3. By status — narrow the list to completed, pending, declined or refunded payments.

Exporting for your accounts

When it's time to reconcile or hand records to your accountant, you can export your card transactions to a CSV file from the transactions screen. The file includes the details shown in the app, so it slots neatly into a spreadsheet or accounting tool.

For a full account statement covering all activity on your payment account, you can also download statements from your dashboard.

Tips for cleaner records

  • Use separate cards for distinct purposes so filtering by card lines up with your expense types.
  • Export regularly (for example monthly) to keep your bookkeeping current.
  • Review the status filter to spot pending or declined payments that may need follow-up.
