Where can I use my Juuli Visa card? (Online and in-store)

From 1 August 2026 — Juuli cards can be topped up only from your Juuli account balance; topping up a card directly from an external bank account will no longer be available.

Your Juuli Visa card works just like any other Visa debit card. Because it runs on the Visa network, you can use it almost anywhere Visa is accepted — for everyday spending and online purchases. Your card spends from the balance you have topped up onto it, so you spend only the funds loaded on the card. You top up from your Juuli account or an external bank account — see How to top up your Juuli card.

Where a Juuli IBAN account and Visa card are available: only when you live in — or, for a business, are registered in — one of these 20 EEA countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. Other EEA countries — for example Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Czechia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway — are not eligible for a Juuli IBAN or Visa card yet. Freelancers anywhere in the world can still invoice their clients through Juuli's Merchant of Record.

Online purchases

Use your card to pay on websites and apps wherever Visa is accepted. Both your virtual card and your physical card work online. At checkout, enter your card number, expiry date, and CVC. You can view these details securely inside the Juuli app at any time.

For added security, some online payments may ask you to confirm the transaction. Make sure your contact details in the app are up to date so you never miss a confirmation prompt.

In-store and contactless

Your physical Juuli card can be used at shops, restaurants, and any merchant that accepts Visa — by inserting, tapping, or swiping at the payment terminal. Virtual cards are designed mainly for online and recurring payments rather than in-store terminals.

Can I withdraw cash from an ATM with my Juuli card?

No — not currently. The Juuli Visa card cannot be used to withdraw cash at an ATM. ATM cash withdrawals are not available yet; this is something we plan to add later, and we will let you know once it is switched on. For now, your card works for online and in-store payments wherever Visa is accepted.

Where it may not work

A few things are worth keeping in mind:

  • Payments require a sufficient available balance — top up before a large purchase.
  • The card cannot be used in certain restricted merchant categories (such as gambling, cryptocurrency, money transfer, and cash advances) or in unsupported regions.
  • If your card is frozen, payments and withdrawals are declined until you unfreeze it. You can freeze and unfreeze your card instantly in the app.

Managing limits and security

You can set spending limits on individual cards and freeze or unfreeze them anytime from the app, giving you full control over where and how much your card spends. If you ever notice a payment you do not recognise, freeze the card immediately and contact our support team.

Your Juuli card is issued through our regulated payment partner under the Visa network. Juuli is a regulated platform, not a bank — e-money and payment services are provided by Stripe Technology Europe, Limited, authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland.
