How does Juuli handle my personal data? GDPR explained
Your privacy matters to us. As a regulated platform operating across the EEA and UK, Juuli handles your personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This article explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have over your information.
What data we collect
To open and run your account, we collect the information needed to verify your identity and provide our services. This typically includes:
- Identity details you provide during sign-up and identity verification (KYC), such as your name, date of birth, and a photo of your ID and a selfie.
- Contact details, such as your email address and phone number.
- Account and transaction information generated as you use your IBAN account and cards.
- For business accounts, company documents and ownership details collected during business verification (KYB).
Why we process it
We only process your data for clear, lawful reasons:
- Legal obligation — identity verification, anti-money-laundering, and regulatory record-keeping are required by EU law.
- Contract — to provide the payment account, cards, and services you sign up for.
- Legitimate interests — to keep your account secure and prevent fraud.
Who handles your data
E-money and payment services are provided by Stripe Technology Europe, Limited, an Electronic Money Institution authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland (firm reference C187865). To deliver our services securely, we share necessary data with trusted partners that support identity verification, card issuing, and payment processing. We never sell your personal data.
Your GDPR rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, and request deletion of your personal data, as well as to restrict or object to certain processing. You can:
- Update your profile and contact details in the app (app.juuli.com → Settings). Changing your email or phone number requires verification.
- Export your data and transaction history directly from the app.
- Request account closure from the app. Any remaining balance must be withdrawn first — though some funds may be held temporarily to cover potential chargebacks or recalls, or during a compliance review (see our Acceptable Use Policy). We also retain certain records where the law requires it (for example, for anti-money-laundering purposes), even after closure.

How we keep your data safe
We protect your account with strong security measures, including two-factor authentication using a one-time PIN code sent to your registered email each time you sign in. Remember: Juuli will never ask you for your password or 2FA code.
