How does the Juuli Freelancer account work — and what do I get?

The Juuli Freelancer account is built for independent professionals who invoice clients and get paid across borders. It gives you a dedicated IBAN payment account, Visa cards, and built-in invoicing — all in one place. Juuli is a regulated platform, not a bank; the underlying e-money and payment services are provided by Stripe Technology Europe, Limited, an Electronic Money Institution authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland (firm reference C187865).

Where a Juuli IBAN account and Visa card are available: only when you live in — or, for a business, are registered in — one of these 20 EEA countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. Other EEA countries — for example Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Czechia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway — are not eligible for a Juuli IBAN or Visa card yet. Freelancers anywhere in the world can still invoice their clients through Juuli's Merchant of Record.

What you get

  • A personal IBAN payment account with a multi-currency balance, ready to send and receive money across the EEA and UK.
  • Visa cards — virtual cards issued instantly, plus optional physical cards. You can freeze and unfreeze any card from the app at any time.
  • Built-in invoicing, where Juuli acts as Merchant of Record and handles VAT and tax compliance on your client invoices (available on Freelancer accounts only).
  • A clear dashboard for tracking payments, downloading statements, and exporting your transaction history.

How invoicing works

When you invoice a client through Juuli, we become the Merchant of Record. That means we take on the legal and tax compliance of the invoice, so you can focus on the work. The service fee is 4.5% per invoice, and you choose whether you or your client covers it. Invoicing is supported in 15+ currencies, and your clients can pay from 180+ countries.

Getting set up

Setting up is fast and there is no setup, activation, or joining fee. Once you complete identity verification (KYC), your IBAN account and Visa cards are activated instantly. Verification is automated and usually takes just a few minutes.
